The California Chapter
About us
Opportunity grows when students lead.
From math enrichment to community-based summer programs, Equity Learning California connects young people with learning experiences designed to build curiosity, confidence, and belonging.
Diversity, Innovation, and Opportunity
California is home to incredible diversity and innovation. We are committed to ensuring students from all communities, especially those with limited access to advanced math opportunities, have the support and mentorship they need to thrive.
Building a Love for Math in California
Equity Learning California aims to make math fun, engaging, and inspiring for students. Many elementary and middle schools want to start MathCounts teams but lack trained coaches to guide their students. Our California chapter provides hands-on MathCounts training for students while also preparing future math coaches who can help schools build and sustain strong competition programs. By supporting both students and coaches, we’re growing a vibrant math community across California.
Summer Spotlight
Learning, creating, and building confidence in Los Angeles.
This summer, our Los Angeles team hosted a day of hands-on enrichment at a local youth center serving students from low-income communities.
More than a lesson. A day to explore.
Team members led STEM activities, public-speaking exercises, and face painting—giving students different ways to experiment, express themselves, and connect with young mentors. The program received very positive feedback and gave the California chapter a new way to serve the Los Angeles community beyond the classroom.
Learning can start with a circuit, a speech, a paintbrush—or simply someone taking the time to encourage you.
